I like to keep active outdoors, will I be able to find anything to do in Tallahassee?

If you are a weekend warrior and are looking for apartments in Tallahassee, fear not you will have plenty to do. Tallahassee has so much to offer in the way of outdoor recreation year round. You can get fit and stay active without stepping foot in a gym.

One of our newest outdoor attractions is zip-lining at the Tallahassee Museum by Tallahassee Tree to Tree Adventures. Don't let the name fool you, Tallahassee Museum is anything but boring. This natural habitat has bald eagles, black bear, Florida panther and a lot more. When you're done checking out the wildlife you can grab a harness and zip-line through the trees and over a swamp filled with cypress trees. Not only do you have a great view but there are games and obstacles to keep you busy as well. Even the kids can join in with a special zip-line course for kids 39" to 60" tall. If you are a runner, Tallahassee has several marathons all throughout the year. One of the biggest events in Tallahassee is Springtime Tallahassee which is kicked off by the Springtime Tallahassee 10k/5k and 1 mile. Also in the spring is the Red hills Triathlon that begins at Maclay Gardens with a 1/3 mile swim, then a 16 mile bike and ends with a 3.1 mile run. You can also run for a good cause, the annual Tails & Trails 5k, 10k and 1 mile at Tom Brown Park benefits the Tallahassee animal shelter. If you like long-distance running, the Ultra distance Classic 50m/50k at Wakulla Springs State Park is in December. These are just a few of the run/walk events in the Tallahassee area. If bicycling is your kind of thing, Tallahassee has that too. The St. Marks Historic Railroad trail is a smooth and scenic 16 mile bike trail that goes from Tallahassee to St. Marks. If you like to go off road, Tom Brown Park has several choices including BMX, mountain bike trails, and several bike skills areas. The 3.1 mile Magnolia Mountain bike trail has an overall intermediate skill level with sections that are beginner and expert. The Cadillac Mountain Bike Trail at Lafayette Heritage Trail Park is divided into two parts, the West Cadillac Trail is 1.35 miles and the East Cadillac trail is 2.44 miles. This trail also has an overall intermediate skill level with parts that are expert level, these areas are marked with black diamond or double black diamond symbols. The Loblolly trail is offered for beginners and is 0.9 miles.

Of course, one of the great things about living in Florida is being close to the water. Lafayette Heritage Trail Park has paddling trails through Lake Lafayette. You can fish, bird watch, or just paddle through one of several trails. Trail markers keep you on track as you take in the Florida scenery, you may even see an alligator or two! Trail sections are marked from beginner to expert. The Wilderness Way is a company that offers Kayak rentals and eco-tours of several rivers in and around Tallahassee, such as the Wacissa and Wakulla rivers.

If you like to swim without the wildlife, many Tallahassee apartments have refreshing swimming pools for residents. However, Tallahassee Parks and Recreation also has several Lap pools for experienced swimmers and activity pools and swim classes for the kids. The Parks and Recreation even offers lifeguard training, water aerobics and the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club, a year-round competitive swim team.

If you like to golf, Tallahassee has several golf courses for every budget. Southwood Golf Club was named one of the top 35 new courses in America by Golf Magazine and among America's best new courses by Golf Digest. The City of Tallahassee has two courses, Jake Gaither and Hilaman golf course. Hilaman is a par 72, eighteen-hole golf course, with a driving range and tennis courts. Jake Gaither is a par 36, nine-hole course.
