So you've just settled in to your new pet-friendly apartment in Tallahassee and you're looking for a great, spacious place to let your furry friend run around a bit - that's wonderful, because dogs definitely need exercise! There are a few options when it comes to dog parks in the Tallahassee area and there is sure to be one that Fido, and you, will enjoy!
Off-Leash Dog Parks in Tallahassee
Tallahassee apartments are within close proximity to Tom Brown Park. This recreational spot, located off of Capital Circle to the east of downtown Tallahassee
, includes several trails, tennis courts, playgrounds, disc gold, grassy hills and of course...a dog park! There are two separate fenced areas for both small and larger dogs. The dog park also offers water fountains for both pets and people. With a mixture of sandy and grassy areas, your furry friend will thank you for a fun day in the sun. This is only one of two official off-leash dog parks in Tallahassee, so keep that in mind when searching for a fun location for Spot.
Apartments in Tallahassee are near the second designated off-leash dog park in the area as well. San Luis Mission Park
has its own fenced dog park, also complete with water fountains for both species. There are a lot of trees, meaning a lot of shade during the hot summer months. Keep in mind that this dog park does not have a separate fenced-in area for both small and larger dogs. If you have a tiny Chihuahua or another small breed, you may want to think twice before letting him or her loose in the communal fenced-in area.
Tallahassee Parks for Dog Walking
If you are cool with walking your dog on a leash, there are so many options when it comes to parks and green spaces. Locations such as Cascades Park, Governor's Park and Miccosukkee Canopy Road Greenway are great choices for getting your dog outside for some exercise. Just keep in mind that in public areas like these, you must keep Fido on a leash. You must also be prepared to clean up after them in the case that they...well, do their business. It's always a smart idea to stash extra doggie disposable bags in your car before you head out for your outdoor adventures.
Rent an Apartment with a Private Community Dog Park
Many Tallahassee apartments also offer dog parks and runs on their own community's property. These can range from luxury communities
to more traditional style communities. These are typically fenced-in areas with ample grassy areas for your pet to run and play. Some of these community dog parks may even feature obstacle courses for dogs, complete with tunnels and tires! Be sure to search for this option if having a dog park is important to you and your furry friend.
