Attractions

The Lake Talquin State Recreation Area is a beautiful place in Northwest Tallahassee to spend the day bird watching or fishing off a 500-foot boardwalk. The 75-year-old park is a favorite for hiking and picnicking. Residents here can also enjoy the Lake Jackson Mounds State Archaeological Site. The six earth temple mounds found here are evidence of the Native Americans on the banks of Lake Jackson more than eight centuries ago. This site is considered one of the most important archaeological sites discovered in Florida and it has yielded some of the most significant artifacts in the state.
