Come home to your Collegetown apartment, The Mark, after an exciting day in Tallahassee!

Maybe it's been a long week and you're looking for a fun way to relax, or you're ready to get out of your Tallahassee apartment and explore the city, either way, we've got you covered with the best local recs for your weekend plans.

Enjoy nature in Tallahassee, FL

Tallahassee offers several nature outlets with scenic views and fun activities for you and your friends. ‘The Rez', referring to the FSU reservation, is a popular recreation area just a few miles off of Florida State's Campus. This is a fan favorite for FSU and FAMU students, as it's close to many off-campus apartments and free for students with a valid ID. This lakefront park provides activities such as kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and swimming. However, if you would rather stay dry, you can join a game of beach volleyball, challenge yourself with a rope course, walk through their hiking trails, and even indulge in a nice picnic. The Rez also offers visitors the unique opportunity of renting a sailboat for the afternoon. As long as you complete their sailing clinic you can enjoy a sail around the lake!

Cascades Park is another great option for those looking to appreciate Tallahassee's outdoors. Located downtown, the park has a mix of recreational, historical, and environmental features. It houses the Capital City Amphitheater, an outdoor venue that hosts concerts and events throughout the year. You can also find several walking and biking trails connecting to nearby Tallahassee parks!

Local shopping near your Tallahassee apartment

Perhaps your ideal weekend looks like indulging in some retail therapy! Tallahassee offers several local shops ranging from thrift stores to bookstores, to farmers markets. Railroad Square Art District is a popular area known for its mix of galleries, shops, and small businesses. If you have a knack for unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, then this is the perfect place for you! The Other Side Vintage, Curio, and Rustic Raven Studio are perfect for finding handmade crafts, furniture, custom jewelry, and retro clothing.

If you are a book lover, cat lover, or both, then Fat Cat books and Cosmic Cat Comics are a must-see! At Fat Cat Books, you can browse through a wide selection of genres while enjoying the company of their local cats! They also serve as an adoption center for senior cats, so if you're looking for a new furry friend to keep you company in your apartment this is a great opportunity!

If you're looking for a new place to find some fresh fruit, veggies and a variety of homemade goods, Tallahassee's farmer's markets are the place to go! The Tallahassee Farmer's Market is year-round, and you can find fresh, seasonal produce as well as meat, lotions, honey and flowers. It takes place every Saturday from 8AM to 12PM. You can also look around the Downtown Market. Available only until November, this market has various organic products and produce. You can also enjoy live music, artistic readings, activities for kids and crafts! If you miss it, don't worry, it'll be back in March.

Looking for a fun night on the town

Head over to Collegetown and check out the nightlife! If you are over the age of 21 you can enjoy Coosh's, Township, Madison Social and Oyster City. They serve food and drinks, including a variety of craft beers. For anyone 18 and over, Recess Rooftop Club is another fun way to let loose and spend your Friday or Saturday night!
