You may have noticed a slight change in the air and temperatures the last few weeks in Tallahassee as we approach the spring season. As the season changes, you may be looking for last-minute things to do around your FAMU apartment for spring break. We compiled a list of ideas below for you to explore. Let's get ready because the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University's spring break is coming soon, from March 14 through March 18 this year.

IN TOWN

Let's start in town and your apartment for spring break ideas. Many FAMU apartments include a pool for their residents to enjoy. If your apartment has an outdoor grill area, invite a few friends over and make a day out of it. There are also many opportunities around your apartment in southwest Tallahassee to explore that your usual busy schedule at FAMU does not allow. The city of Tallahassee offers many options for swimming that are open now, including the Wade Wehunt Pool or the Trousdell Aquatics Center. Cascades Park in downtown Tallahassee is also a fun spot for all ages.

BEACH

Tallahassee allows you the opportunity of being a short distance to many of our state's most beautiful and popular spring break locations. St. George Island is a quiet, laidback option for a day trip from your apartment near FAMU. Panama City Beach, of course, is known for its spring break fun and a bit further west along I-10 is Pensacola Beach. Or head east on I-10 to visit the Jacksonville Beaches area.

SPRINGS

Florida's natural springs are always a popular destination, and there are many options to enjoy the springs around Tallahassee. Just south of town and a short distance, you can visit Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, or west along I-10, you can make a full day trip out of a visit to Ponce de Leon Springs State Park.

OTHER FUN TRIPS

We are in a great location to get to a lot of fun spots with a short drive from Tallahassee. These ideas are a little further and may require a night or more away from your student apartment in Tallahassee. Did you know Georgia has a little Grand Canyon? Visit the canyons at Providence Canyon State Park north in Lumpkin, Georgia. Further north in Atlanta, Georgia, you can visit the Georgia Aquarium or other popular destinations. In Valdosta, Georgia, Wild Adventures is a fun theme park close by, or head to Orlando for Disney, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld.

Florida is a popular spot for many around the country and the world, especially for spring break. With the state's popularity comes the crowds, limited availability of places to stay, and a possible increase in prices.
