My kids are signed up for virtual school this year, where can I take them around Tallahassee to socialize them?

As summer winds down and school is set to begin many parents opted for a virtual option or homeschool this year due to COVID-19 pandemic. As we are approaching six months in this pandemic many parents are asking how can we safely get our kids out of your apartment in Tallahassee to socialize them and give us all something fun to do? Here is a list of options around Tallahassee to check out.

Cascades Park

Cascades Park is a location that brings the whole Tallahassee community together and has something for everyone including multi-use trails, gardens to explore or have a picnic, along with many places to observe wildlife and nature. The park also features a children's play area and splash pad. In Florida, we still have a few more months of heat so this makes the perfect spot to get outside and cool off or later in the fall enjoy the trails and other social events this park offers.

Tallahassee Museum

The Tallahassee Museum is located on 52 acres on the shores of Lake Bradford and includes native wildlife exhibits, nature trails, and a zip line course. They also offer school break camps and other group visit options including home school programs.

Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee

The Challenger Learning Center is located in downtown Tallahassee and perfect for anyone that has an interest in space, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The center features a simulator, theatre and planetarium. Kids can learn with hands-on learning, labs, and demonstrations. They offer many programs including a virtual option, camps, and homeschool days.

Gulf Specimen Marine Lab

If you are looking to get out of Tallahassee for a day trip head south for just over thirty miles to the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and Aquarium in Panacea. You can visit the aquarium where you can observe and in some cases touch some of the marine life, attend a guided tour or beach tour. Pack your lunch and spend the day, after your visit to the lab have a picnic in Woolley Park on Dickerson Bay. Next summer keep Gulf Specimen Marine Lab in mind for camp options for the kids, so fun!
