My credit score is pretty low, will I still be able to find a place?

Most larger FAMU apartments will want to run a credit check. There are other factors that are considered when you submit an application. For example, if your credit score is low because of outstanding medical bills but you have great rental history you may be fine. You may be asked to pay a higher deposit but won't be left homeless!

Another option for students with little or poor credit history is a guarantor. A family member or close friend with good credit can co-sign on your lease. Keep in mind if you are unable to pay your rent, your co-signer will be responsible for the entirety of your lease. Make sure you are not renting a place you cannot afford.
