Wintertime in Tallahassee is the perfect time to get out and explore nature. Temperatures are mild and bugs are pretty much non-existent. Tallahassee is filled with many great trails and parks for an afternoon picnic, walk on the trails, playgrounds, and more. Whether you are an experienced outdoors person or just want to find a spot to get outside we compiled a list of some of the parks around apartments in the Tallahassee State College area.
This park is first on our list and the closest to apartments near TSC. It features trails, a playground, picnic shelters, and in the center is Lake Esther for fishing. If you live in a dog-friendly apartment and have a dog this park also includes a dog park that has a fenced area for dogs to explore.
Cascades Park is 24- acre park located in the heart of downtown Tallahassee and has something for everyone. It features trails that can be used for walking, jogging, or cycling. There is a children's play area, picnic tables, an amphitheater, and hosts many social events.
Located just north of Tallahassee, this park features ancient Native American temple mounds. So, if you are looking for history and time outdoors check out this park. The park offers many walking trails and opportunities to see birds and other wildlife. Picnic tables and a pavilion are available for use also.
This city park located northeast of the TSC campus off of Thomasville Road. It is the perfect spot to leisurely walk the garden trails and admire the beauty of the many camellias and azaleas found in the garden. During the holiday season, the park has been transformed to include a drive-thru experience with over 150,000 lights.
Located east of Tallahassee this 225-acre park is a must-do as it features trails, a dog park, BMX track, disc golf course, play areas for the kids, along with other sports fields including tennis, soccer, sand volleyball, and baseball. Spend the day walking the trails and stay for a picnic. During the summer the park hosts a 4th of July fireworks show.
The park is located off of Thomasville Road just north of I-10 and is a park to enjoy in all seasons. The park features history, beautiful gardens to explore, hiking trails and in the summer you can swim, canoe, or kayak on Lake Hall. There is a large picnic area overlooking the lake that can be enjoyed year-round.
This 16-mile trail was originally a railroad and was converted for all to enjoy. It starts in Tallahassee and takes you south to St. Marks on the Gulf of Mexico.
