What are my laundry options while living in FSU apartments?

While attending Florida State University, laundry is a necessary chore you will have to take into consideration. This can be quite the task if you are just venturing out on your own for the first time in apartments near FSU. Good thing is, there are a few options when it comes to washing your clothes and each of them have their own benefits.

Wash your clothes in the comfort of FSU apartments!

Probably the most preferred option is when FSU apartments come with a washer and dryer in the unit. Many communities may offer washer and dryer hook-ups, which in this case you will need to provide your own appliances. However, the easiest option is when the machines already come with the apartment! Some apartments will offer full-sized appliances while others may offer a stackable option. Either way, having a washer and dryer inside of your apartment creates the ultimate convenience for you. You are able to do your laundry any time of day; just be sure to coordinate this with roommates who may also need to use the machine from time to time.

Having a washer and dryer in your unit will cut down on the manpower it takes to trek your laundry basket to an off-site facility. Your longest walk will be from your bedroom to your laundry room! It also offers privacy – now you don't have to switch loads with the fear of your underwear falling out in front of a captive audience of fellow laundromat-goers. Some apartments near FSU may even be all-inclusive, which means that your utility bill will be included in your price of rent. This is great because that means the use of both the washer and dryer will be included in the monthly amount you pay. However, be sure to check with the office first, because some apartments may charge an extra fee each month to have a washer and dryer in your unit. One potential downside of this is that if you are paying your water and electricity bills separate from your rent payment, then  your utility bill may be a little higher than if you did not have a washer and dryer at all. Keep this in mind if your budget is of utmost importance to you.

Apartments near FSU with on-site Laundry Facilities

If your Florida State University apartment does not offer washer/dryer hook-ups or machines in the apartment itself, the community may offer an on-site laundry room for their residents. This designated building or room is typically located in a central location, either near the office, clubhouse or fitness center. The number of washers and dryers in this facility will depend on the size of the community. The perk to using an on-site laundry room is that your overall rent may be cheaper, since you are not paying for the extra square footage that an in-unit laundry room would cost. Your utility bill will also be cheaper each month, since you will not be paying for water or electricity that is used by the machines. These on-site laundry rooms can be very convenient if they are accessible 24 hours. The downside is that it may have hours that are not convenient to your schedule, or you may decide to go at a very busy time where there are no machines available. You will most likely have to pay per load of laundry – this can definitely start to add up if you have let your laundry accumulate in your closet over the past couple of months! Be sure to check with your office on any type of monthly laundry plans they may have for their residents.

FSU Apartments with No Laundry Facilities

If your apartments near FSU do not have either in-unit or on-site laundry options, you will have to find an off-site option. There are a variety of laundromats in the Tallahassee area that will be able to suit your needs. Typically, these off-site laundromats may be bigger and may offer more machines than an on-site laundry facility can. That means you may be able to get in and out a little faster. There are some off-site facilities that may have convenient hours, but you will want to double check before loading your vehicle down with your dirty unmentionables – laundromats may have business hours too. You will also need to remember your safety when traveling to an off-site laundromat – it is always best to grab a friend and declare a laundry day outing!

Hire someone else to do your laundry at apartments near FSU!

Maybe you are living in FSU apartments and don't want to deal with any of the above. If that is the case, you can be super luxurious and use a laundry service that will wash, dry and fold your clothes for you! They even have pick-up and delivery options. While I don't typically condone forgoing all adult responsibilities, including laundry, I understand that sometimes desperate times may cause for desperate measures!
