Are there any beaches or parks where I can exercise?

Of course! Although Tallahassee does not surround a bay area beach like some of the other college towns, the city is known for its National parks and lakes near the college campuses. Lake Talquin, a state recreational area, is located in Northwest Tallahassee. Here, you can spend your time taking a jog throughout the hiking trails or even fish off of the 500-foot boardwalk. Across the city, is Tom Brown Park. This area attracts more of the younger population. There are basketball and tennis courts, bike trails, fitness trails, and playgrounds for the children. Lake Ella is right near midtown, which makes traveling to this area fairly convenient. Lake Ella is open to all and allows you to bring your pet along for the hike! This park area has concrete sidewalks where you can run, ride your back, rollerblade or even skateboard. Often, you can find Bhakti yoga classes at Lake Ella throughout the mornings and afternoons. Maclay Gardens State Park, located near I-10, is known for its swimming, canoeing and and fishing! This park is located just near a golf course for those of you who would love to play a round before jumping in the water!
