As we head into the spring and summer months nothing is better than a trip out to a local farm to pick blueberries and support local farmers. Spending a day at a farm is a great reminder of where our food comes from, spend some time in nature and many farms also offer treats like ice cream once you are done picking, yum. There are many u-pick farms close by your Tallahassee apartment and Blueberry season is coming up fast. We put together a list of places to check out around Tallahassee to pick your own blueberries. JUBILEE ORCHARDS
Jubilee Orchards is northeastern part of Tallahassee and offers u-pick organic blueberries. This year they will also ship your favorite blueberries to any of the southern states if you can't make it to the farm. And fun fact, the farm was founded by former US Senator and Florida Governor ‘Walking Lawton' Chiles.
SALADINO'S RED BARN FARM
Saladino's Red Barn Farm is located south of Tallahassee in Crawfordville and offers u-pick blueberries.
GREEN MEADOWS FARM
East of Tallahassee you will find the quaint town of Monticello and Green Meadows Farm. This family owned, small farm is open for u-pick blueberries usually during the summer months.
BLUE SKY BERRY FARM
Also located in Monticello is Blue Sky Berry Farm which offers u-pick blueberries and cut flowers. Check out the Flower Bar available for purchase for weddings, showers, birthdays, or any event where you need some blooms to brighten your space.
BLUEBERRY SPRINGS FARM
Blueberry Springs Farm is in Wacissa south of Monticello, they offer u-pick blueberries along with plant sales throughout the year including blueberries, figs and more.
GAINER BLUEBERRY FARM
Gainer Blueberry Farm is west of Tallahassee in Chipley. They open for u-pick blueberries during the summer months. This makes it a perfect spot for a longer day trip with the family.
ORCHARD POND ORGANICS
Orchard Pond Organics is a family owned, organic farm in northern Tallahassee. They offer u-pick strawberries and sunflowers, farm tours and a farm stand for all your favorite produce.
As you head to the farm near your apartment in Tallahassee, we recommend that you prepare for your farm visit with sunscreen, hats and other sun protection and of course lots to drink. A trip out to the farm means some time in the hot Florida sun during the warmer months but we promise the blueberries are worth it. U-pick farms are fun for everyone whether you are a student or non-student here in Tallahassee. There are so many farms close by to spend a few hours out at the farm or make it a full day trip with your friends or family.
